Lawrence H. Fisher is a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania author and attorney. His true crime book, Memoir of a Milk Carton Kid, was published in October 2011 and debuted on the New York Times Bestseller List at #14. He will follow this success with the publication of his next true crime book, Victim of the System, to be released in October 2014.
As an attorney, he frequently engages in high-profile litigation. He has represented clients in lawsuits against the City of Pittsburgh and its officials. He has also served as a defense attorney for city officials, and, in a precedent-setting case, for a former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice.
Mr. Fisher's passion is vindicating the rights of the wrongfully accused, as well as individuals who have suffered cruel and unusual punishment, among other civil rights. In the case of Commonwealth vs. Hutchinson, he provided the criminal defense that brought about rare agreement on both sides of the abortion debate. He also successfully challenged unconstitutional ordinances enacted by the Cities of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Mr. Fisher received his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1993. Prior to that, he was the Cecil C. Humphreys Scholar at the University of Memphis, where he earned his J.D. - the last year of which, 1992, he studied as a visiting fellow at the Temple University Beasley School of Law. His undergraduate degree in Foreign Service and International Politics was awarded by the Pennsylvania State University in 1989. There, he was active in student government.
His frequent appearances as a commentator include Fox News, CNN, Inside Edition, Dr. Phil, and just about every other national and local news media outlet.
