Lawrence H. Fisher is a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania author and attorney. His New York Times bestseller, Memoir of a Milk Carton Kid, was published in October 2011. Recently, he published another true crime book, Victim of the System.
As an attorney, Mr. Fisher frequently prevails in high-profile litigation. Representing clients against the City of Pittsburgh, and its officials, exemplify such accomplishments. He also served as counsel to a former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice.
Mr. Fisher's passion is vindicating the rights of the wrongfully accused, as well as individuals who have suffered cruel and unusual punishment, among other civil rights violations. In the case of Commonwealth vs. Hutchinson, he provided the criminal defense that brought about rare agreement on both sides of the abortion debate. He also successfully challenged unconstitutional ordinances enacted by the cities of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
In 1993, Georgetown University Law Center awarded him an LL.M. Prior to that, he was the Cecil C. Humphreys Scholar at the University of Memphis, earning a J.D. -- the last year of which, 1992, as a Temple University Beasley School of Law Visiting Fellow. His undergraduate degree in Foreign Service and International Politics was awarded by the Pennsylvania State University in 1989. There, he was active in student government.
